Protecting a comic starts with the right materials
Comic supplies can help reduce damage from handling, dust, light, moisture, and poor storage. The right size and material depend on the comic’s age, dimensions, value, and how often it is handled.

- Bags: Choose a size that fits without bending the comic. Replace inexpensive bags as they age or become cloudy.
- Boards: Use clean, correctly sized backing boards and avoid forcing a book into a tight bag.
- Boxes: Store comics upright with enough support to prevent slumping, but not so tightly that removal causes damage.
- Display protection: Limit direct sunlight and high-intensity light, which can fade covers.
- Shipping materials: Use rigid support, moisture protection, and sufficient cushioning so books cannot shift in transit.
